Questions and answers
What UptimeWarrior checks and how often, what it costs, where alerts go, and what happens to your account and your data.
What does UptimeWarrior monitor?
Five things about every site you add: whether it is up, its TLS certificate, its domain registration, the links on the page, and its meta tags.
The uptime check requests your URL and records the status code and how long the answer took. The certificate check reads whether the chain is trusted and when it expires. The domain check asks the registry for the renewal date, on Pro and up. The link scan follows up to 50 links on the page you monitor, and the meta scan reads its title, description, social image, mobile viewport and charset. Nothing is installed on your side.
How often are sites checked?
Uptime: 15 min on Free; 60s on Pro and Agency. Broken links and meta tags: weekly on Free; every 12h on Pro; every 6h on Agency.
The TLS certificate is read hourly, and the domain every 6h on Pro and up. Between scans the last result is shown.
Is there a free plan?
Yes. Free covers 3 sites and takes no card. Three of your own sites, checked every quarter of an hour — with the dead links and missing meta tags nobody goes looking for, and a status page.
Free keeps running for as long as somebody signs in. After 60 days without a visit we email the account; at 74 days its monitoring pauses, and signing in starts it again; at 180 days we ask for the account to be deleted, and it is erased 30 days after that unless somebody signs in first.
A paid plan is free for its first 14 days, with a card on the account from sign-up.
How much does it cost?
Free costs nothing for 3 sites. Pro is €12 a month for its first 4 sites, then €3.00 a site and €2.50 a site from site 26; and Agency is €29 a month for its first 9 sites, then €3.00 a site, €2.25 a site from site 26 and €1.85 a site from site 76. Prices are excl. VAT.
A paid plan bills for the most sites being checked at once during the month, not per seat. The pricing page shows what 1, 5, 11, 25 and 50 sites come to.
What counts as down, and how quickly will I hear about it?
A 5xx response, a certificate we cannot trust, no answer within 15 seconds, or a keyword you told us to expect missing from the page. A 4xx means the server answered, so it only counts if you have told us the site should answer 2xx.
One failed request is not announced. The site is asked again 30 seconds later and only a second failure goes out. That is roughly 30–45 seconds after the failing check, or up to about 90 seconds when requests time out. Up to one poll interval can pass before that check comes round. These are targets, not an SLA.
Where do alerts go?
By email on every plan, and to Slack, Teams, Discord and Google Chat through a webhook you add.
Every confirmed outage gets an all-clear saying how long it lasted. An outage that is still running gets a reminder every 4 hours, and a site that flaps is announced at most 3 times in 4 hours. A certificate is mentioned at 14, 7, 3 and 1 days left, and a domain at 30, 14, 7, 3 and 1 on Pro and up.
Do broken links or missing meta tags send an alert?
No. They are listed on the dashboard and in the weekly report on Pro and up, as of the last scan. Only an outage, its recovery, and a certificate or domain close to expiry send a message.
Can my clients see how their site is doing?
Yes, on a public status page: whether the site is up now, the last week of checks, and when its certificate runs out, and its domain on Pro and up. You choose the address; the page is hosted on our domain, and there is no custom domain.
On Agency, group a client's sites under their name and they get one status page covering all of them, a weekly report to their own address and alerts of their own.
On Agency the page carries your logo and colour instead of ours.
Can my team share one account?
On Pro and up, yes. Invite colleagues as admin or read-only, and nothing is charged per seat: the bill follows sites.
02 / account
Your account and data
How do I sign in? There is no password field.
With a code sent to your email. Enter your address and we email a single-use code that expires shortly after it is sent. There is no password to choose, store or reset.
Can I get all of my data out?
Yes, from account settings. The export is emailed to the account's address as JSON and CSV: sites and their settings, check results, alert channels and history, clients, maintenance windows and team. Check results are newest first, up to the most recent 50,000, and the export says so when older ones were left out.
How do I delete my account?
From account settings, by typing the account's name to confirm. Monitoring stops at once and a paid subscription ends with its current billing period.
For 30 days the owner can undo it and everything comes back; after that the account and its data are erased. The privacy policy has the details.
Who else handles my data?
Only the services needed to run it: Stripe for payments, selling paid plans through Link, Resend for email, and Railway for hosting. No data is sold. The privacy policy says what each one receives.
03 / your server
Our checks and your server
How do I recognise your requests in my server logs?
By the User-Agent, which names UptimeWarrior and links to a page about our bot. About our bot lists what it requests and how to allow or block it.
Will monitoring put load on my site?
Very little. The uptime check is one request for the page each time it runs (15 min on Free; 60s on Pro and Agency). The link scan requests up to 50 links from the page, on its own slower schedule, and the certificate and domain checks do not request pages at all.
04 / contact
Getting in touch
How do I reach a person?
Through the contact form, and we reply by email. Signed in, the message says which account it is about, so a billing question arrives with the account attached.

Pricing and billing
Cards, what exactly is billed, the monthly minimum, volume rates and changing plan.
-
Monitoring for agencies
Monitoring every client site on any stack, with each client's status page, report and alerts kept to that client, billed per site rather than per seat.
-
SSL and domain expiry
How the TLS certificate and the domain registration are checked, and when a reminder goes out before either runs out.
-
Broken links and meta tags
What the scheduled scan of the page you monitor reads (dead links, title, description, social image, viewport and charset) and what it does not do.
-
Status pages
A public page per site, or per client, showing whether it is up, the last week of checks and when the certificate runs out.
-
Weekly client reports
The weekly PDF of uptime, response times, certificates, domains and page issues, and the per-client version that covers only that client's sites.
-
Compared with Oh Dear
Where Oh Dear is the better fit, where this is, and what each costs by site count, from both products' own pages.
-
SSL certificate checker
Checks a site's TLS certificate once, now: whether a browser trusts it, who issued it and how many days it has left.
-
Domain expiry checker
Looks a domain up with its registry over RDAP or WHOIS and reports the registrar and the date the registration runs out.
-
Broken link checker
Follows the links on one page and lists the ones that no longer answer, separately from those whose server turned the check away.
-
Meta tag checker
Reads one page's title, meta description, social image and mobile viewport, and says which are missing.
